The recording studio is a magical place for me. My first love is still the mysterious moment when a song idea lands from out of nowhere. But a close second is the way it comes to life with a beat or a string part & takes on form inside your headphones in the most intimate way. When an artist takes the stage with just a single instrument we called it stripped back but the studio puts meat on the bones of the skeleton. Hearing a song come to life is a lifelong passion for me & I would love to be a part of helping you realize your songs in this incredible way.

What I’ve got
-
I’ve been working in Pro Tools since 2002 & while I’ve had a bit of experience with other DAWs this is the one that I’m most fluent in.

I’ve spent the last few years building banks of plugins that allow me to be confident about my creativity. Some of them include:
Soundtoys 5
Black Rooster All Bundle
Arturia V Collection 5

Native Instruments Symphony Strings Ensemble
Olathe Arnalds Evolutions
Spitfire Cinematic Frozen Strings
Westwood Viola Untamed
LSS Solo Strings bundle
Project Sam’s Free Orchestra

A rare thing to see in a home studio but I converted a 5 foot wide, 3 foot deep & 8 foot high closet into a treated vocal booth complete with a screen mounted inside. It’s very cosy & I’ve spent hours in there working on vocals.
-
My newest mic is the Warm Audio WA-251 Tube Condenser mic which has been a great all rounder on acoustic guitar & piano & is great for female vocals.
I own a gorgeous Warm Audio WA-47 Large-Diaphragm Tube Condenser mic which is new to me & I’m loving playing with this warm dark sounding mic.
I was 1 of 8 people who backed an Arclight Calcium Microphone on Kickstarter & am currently testing it out in my studio. This is a more modern & bright sounding large diaphragm condenser.
I also have a few friends who are very generous with lending me microphones for projects.

My collection is small but mighty & I hope to keep growing it.
Studio Porojects VTB1 V Series preamp
Really Nice Compressor RNC1773

My Mantra.
Play.
Have fun with it. Get creative.
You don’t HAVE to do this, you GET to.
Write.
Capture every idea as it comes. Say yes to the muse and keep showing up.
Record.
How can people hear it if you don’t keep your ass in the chair and finish the demo?
Repeat.
Get back up and do it all over again.
Don’t quit. Ever
